Which is preferred by most reefers, T5's or MH?

Are T5 used more often due to price?

Get the best lights you can, PC bulbs Can cost $$..
IF you have to start with PC's ( I did )
There's many corals you can keep, and you can keep most LPS's ...
I even had a plate coral on the bottom, doing very good..
    Frogspawn, hammer, candycane, etc..
Just be sure to pick corals that match your lighting..
If there was no cheap PC's, I would have never been able to start with saltwater..

    Good Luck, Larry

Seems pretty good. I just notice that it doesn't come with legs to mount on the aquarium, so you will have to hang it from the ceiling. As long as you are cool with that, seems ok. And 4 x 54W T5 is quite a bit of light for your size tank - should be good for soft corals and LPS, definitely, and maybe some SPS near the top of the tank.

Yes you can keep most LPS under PC's...
I started with a 75 gallon aquarium with 2 x 65w PC's and managed to keep several LPS, including favias, candy canes, etc.... These sat at about half way down in my tank, so about 12-14" below the lights. They did fine and I saw good steady growth.

But like everybody said, Don't skimp on proper equipment now- cause 90% of the people who get into this hobby end up upgrading every piece of equipment they bought initially within a year (don't quote me on that fact or ask for references! lol).

Good luck with everything- feel free to ask as many questions as you can think up!
