Ok so im putting a 250w MH in a fixed (cant change level) position over my 55gl it will be 12" over the water with a frag rack 6 " under that so a total of 14" to tops of corals.
I have some older bulbs that I assume to be around a year old.
or a newer bulb of approx 3mthswhich one would be the better choice to start out with?
I plan on running the light four just 4hrs a day untill the weather cools down a bit to :) this should help acclimatise the corals to considering they have been under just PC lighting.
ill post a pic soon of my getto hood & halide

Yr old MH bulbs shouldnt be reintalled in a light fixture. That may cause an algae bloom. Get rid of that bulb.

I would use the new bulb.. and slowly over time set your light cycle longer to help the corals get used to the light...

    Best of Luck....
