After one year I think I have finally finished all major projects with the tank and can now just sit back and watch it grow ;D

For those that are interested I will include short details of the projects that have been done to get to this point in seperate posts.

    Anyway my tank ----

    The lighting system...

I have been asked a few times how I did the lighting and cover for a bow fron tank; well it was quite a project involving alot of metal and plexi work, but in the end I turned out very well..

    Plexi Shield.JPG
first a two piece plexi speperator was created. This seperator provides a 3" air gap between the shield and water below, and a 3 inch air gap between the shield and the lights above. A single fan provides air circulation above and below the plexi shield.

The lighting system is a Coral-Life pro halide retrofit fixture that has been cut to fit with in the plastic hood that was provided with the tank, It is held in an aluminum frame that rests above the tank.

The filtration system has been an ongoing project that has finally been completed with my "Super Sump" design.

When I started with this tank I combined several pieces from previous tanks to handle the circulation, filter system. I added a custom designed fuge and an automated top-off system. The whole mess is under the steps in what I called the reactor room.

I replaced it all with a single sump fuge that is so over-the-top but totally cool at the same time :cheesy:

I wish I had taken pictures during the construction phase, but I totally forgot to. So all of the photos had to be taken in very cramped quarters and are not of the best quality... but here ya go.

    Super Sump continued....

    Light on Fuge.JPG
This is the light for the fuge area, it is a LED grow light -- have no ideal how it is going to work, but am looking forward to see how this lighting experiment works out.

    Fuge flow control.JPG
This is a pic of the water flow control to the fuge, four 3/4" valves draw water directly from the overflow to feed the fuge.

    sump area with skimmer.JPG
This is the best pic of the sump area of the system, on the very right is the water from from the tank, behind the skimmer cup you can see the discharge water from the fuge.

This is an all-in-one design complete with 30g of make up water with an auto top off system. It took me a long time to finalize the design and about two weeks to build once I had all of the materials.

    LOL, Been there ;D

My new sump system is 48"x24"x24" (approx 1/3 of it is the make-up water reservoir), It could easily handle a 150g system and if you have the $$ its so much cleaner to have everything in a single container.

I started the project after flooding the room twice because I forgot to re-connect a pipe or hose after doing maintenance on the old system
