I have peacock mantis, about 5" long, in a 44 gal tank with a damsel and a few frags. I'm thinking about getting rid of my snowflake eel in my reef tank because I think he is responsible for the death of my diamond goby and one of my female anthias...he's about 18" long and probably somewhere between 2"-3" round.

So I was thinking rather than trade him in would it be at all possible that he could co-habitat with my mantis shrimp? Or would the mantis just dominate him as soon as I drop him in the tank?

Any ideas or info from personal experience would be appreciated, thanks.

I would not do it, I cant see it working out.
Both the mantis and the eel live at the bottom of the tank and make dens. I think it would be WWIII between the two of them.

No bottom dweller fish would be safe in there IMO. Fish that habitate in the middle or upper part of the tank are fine, but I would never risk putting an expensive fish in with bob! Bob even allowed the damsel to den with him whenever the damsel was scared. But mantis will be mantis!

I agree that they wouldn't do well together, but I'm not sure who would be killed. I've saw a video of a mantis shrimp trying to fight an octopus once.

Very true exp since the eel is nearly blind. I think that its a recipe for death one way or another. This is a messy situeation.

Yea I ended up giving him to the in-laws...they have a FOWLR tank so he's doing well in there now.
