Lately I have been thinking about building a peninsula stand for my 75. Was just wondering if anybody here has a done a peninsula or knows any good links to check out.
    TIA.

You could build the stand just as easily as any regular stand. It might just be more open & have doors on both sides. I see no difference as far as structural matter.

someone built a real nice one not long ago, had supports that came up the wall side and supported the light canopy, thought I was subscribed to the thread but I cant find it and don't recall the members name atm. :(

I know Otty built an amazing 265 (I think) peninsula I read through awhile back. I just wanted to see what 75 would look like. A 75 isn't very big so I wasn't sure how sturdy it would be at only 18" wide. Although I guess I could make the the stand a bit wider than the tank. I do have two little girls running around so i dont want to have to worry about an accident. I'm also trying figure out the best idea for an overflow. Maybe a glass-holes kit but in the side as opposed to the back glass. Also have to figure the plumbing. Will have to be a closed loop since i won't want any visible powerheads.

the one I'm thinking of was a 40 gallon tank and he used an eshopps overflow and hid the plumbing down the side against the wall between the supports for the canopy

Are you trying to have the stand independent from any wall? You just want one side for the filtration? If that's the case, your best best would be to add a coast-to-coast overflow on one of the sides. That will allow an overflow and you won't have any equipment inside of the tank.

Yea just one side against a wall. I like the coast to coast but was thinking a gl*******s kit would be even less visible from the other three viewing sides. I'm trying to figure out how to run the plumbing to get good flow with no powerheads but also not making pvc or loclines too visible.

Umm closed loop? Or are you trying to stay low budget?

Well I'm not exactly rich but this build has been going on for months so I can do everything right. I've never done a closed loop but I'm thinking with a peninsula there's no other option really. I wouldn't think the expense would be much greater since I haven't purchased any powerheads yet.
