After much debate in my house that still isn't settled I am starting a 55gal build. I bought this tank about a year ago. I did a water test when I bought it and it didn't leak, but I decided to reseal it anyway. I plan to take my time with this build do to a tight budget, and want to do thing a little different this time. Ok so here are some pics to get it started.

I stripped the old sealant off today, still want to go over it with baby powder to make sure I get all the reidue off. Probably reseal it this weekend.:clapping:

    Update 08-10-2011

Well I soaked the tank panels in viniger to get rid of the cloudiness with no luck. Then I used baby powder to check for any sealant that might have been left behind. I did good there. Any way I hosed the tank out good and letting it air dry so that I can reseal it this weekend. Here are some more pics of what I've been doing.

The baby powder servse two porpuses. First it highlights the silicone residue that may have been missed while stipping the old silicone out. As you might already know that new silicone will not adhere to the old residue left behind, eventually thew new silicone will leave go. The second reason for the powder is to make cleaning the tank after stripping. The powder keeps the little bits of silicone form sticking to the glass by absorbing the statick. There for when you hose out when your done it all, powder and all come rolling out. Hope this explaination helps clear things up a little.

Thanks so much! Yeah that was good. It's kinda like when you use baby powder at the beach to get the sand off you works like a charm.
