OK, so some of you know, I am also a Brownie Troop Leader (yes I am a glutton for punishment) and I have 15 girls, all age 6.

After our Christmas party this Sunday past, one parent was complaining to me that I should have made up the craft with their child that missed the 2 previous meetings. (Now, I volunteer for this type of punishment, I don't get any pay). I tried to explain that I can't make up everything that every kid misses and they told me how "disappointed" their child was going to be. (so now I am really hot - no 'thanks' for the rest of the year, just this crappo)

Then , I turn around and 2 of the girls had a Christmas present for me....it was a gift certificate for $40 to my Local Fish Store that I use all the time!!!! It made me feel so much better and I just had to share!!!! :D :D

Oh, and be nice to your Scout Leaders....it really is a lot of work!

    Sue,

How wonderful :) It's a really great feeling to be appreciated isn't it?

As for the other people, stuff 'em. I pity the child though, probably another McDonalds victim :)

Yeah, I do it for the kids! And I am one of those 'conservative' persons, who believes they have to EARN their badges...everyone doesn't get one just because they belong to the group. Some kids won't get badges because they weren't there and did not make up the work. I can't wait to get flak for that !!!Yippeeee!!!!!

We have done the whole gaunlet of chores scout leaders, coaches, talent show directors and my wife is a preschool teacher the best advice i can put here is smile even when when you dont mean it. Think about any situation where there are more then 2 people someone is going to have a completely different opinion and probably is the loudset most opinionated person, now throw in parental pride and yuck its not fun! The one family that thanks you and remembers you over the years is more then enuff to outweigh the grumpies. So just smile and seceretly hope they step in the big puddle at the end of the driveway!
