    Hey 3reefers,

I was wondering if it would be okay for my 30 gallon tank to house both a peppermint, and a scarlet shrimp?

And if i could just go with one, should i go with the scarlet. Im sure most people would say the scarlet other then the peppermint.

Any thoughts or experiences, im all ears.

    Thanks REEFERS.

If by scarlet you mean blood/fire shrimp (Lysmata debelius) then they are fine together.

I think by Scarlet he means a cleaner (Skunk) shrimp. All common names for the same thing.
Yes, they will coexist peacefully, as long as there is enough food. If not the cleaner will start to bully the peppermints. If you decide on one, get the scarlet for sure, they are full of personality. Peppermints are mostly nocturnal, and even when you do get to watch them, are pretty boring IMHO.

    What PackLeader said.

I have both Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimps and Peppermint Shrimps in my DT. The Scarlets always station at a place during the day and you can easily see them, while Peppermint just hide under the rocks.

They are fine together. I really like peppermints. I've had good luck with them coming out during the day, but that might have to do w/my aquascaping.

Not really sure as to what they eat, so I can't give input on what food you should make sure there is enough of... I think I'll follow this thread a while to see if anyone chimes in w/that info.

What fish do you have? Some are known to eat shrimps...

Well, in my tank i have 2 occelaris clownfish, and a brown clown goby. I actually just bought a Scarlet cleaner shrimp. So im pretty sure they wont eat him. but i know that i cant get a hawkfish now because he's known to eat them. So to bad really pretty looking fish.

And dont shrimp scavenge for food? But to help them grow you can always feed them, also so that they dont pick fights with one another right?
