I have a quick question. I have a 46 gallon tank with lots of live rock (~60 lbs). I currently have 2 peppermint shrimp, but because of some GHA, I'd like to maybe get a Sally Lightfoot Crab. I asked the guy at my LFS, and he said they might fight. Does anyone else have experience putting these guys together?

I got a Lawnmower Blenny based on his advice, and he hasn't even touched the long GHA (although I do see him eating SOMETHING off of the rocks). Any advice for him? I'm kinda worried about him because I never see him eat anything substantial. He is about 2.5" or so in length.

I feed the tank flake food, frozen food (variety) and sometimes sinking pellets. Thanks.

Don't think a sally lightfoot will help too much with GHA. also when they get big, a lot of them go after fish. this is just my opinion, but I will not put any more crabs in my tank besides blue leg hermits. I think most crabs will try the taste of anything in your tank, if they like it, they will finish it off. I've had a sally lightfoot jump at passing by fish, and I've also had emerald crabs eat zoas and xenia.

ya um neither of those including your algae blenny will eat GHA the only known things that eat GHA consitantly are fox face rabbit fish and sea hare slugs. but you should find the source of the problem first and figure out where your high nitrates and phosphates are coming from

Hmm, I guess it's like everything else in saltwater aquariums. Can never predict what the things will act like. Thanks for the input. I did double check a few things and my Nitrates are a little high (15ppm or so) but this is new. I'll just get those to drop and scrub the rock and see if it comes back.

Thanks for all the input. And the bump!

My sally light foot and peppermint seem to keep there distance from each other. I 2 had a gha problem and my lfs told me dont worry about it as long as you have a sally. They were right gha gone within a couple days. The only time he showed aggression towards any fish was to my blue hippo. I was switching my tank out, had them in a 5 gallon home depot bucket and found the crab on top of the blue hippo.

SLF may eat the blenny but not the GHA. Emerald would be better for GHA and won't go after fish or coral.

good chance your nitrates are only 15ppm simply bc the GHA is soaking them in. Don't let that mislead you.

    How often are you feeding?

Too often. I'm cutting back on the food. I was giving a minimal amount of frozen food and a minimal amount of flake food a day, with some pellets on occassion. I'm going to cut back and alternate the forzen food every 4th day, and the flake food in the middle.

And I finally got my protein skimmer back to where it should be. I would set it and it wouldn't fill up. I'd walk away for a few minutes, then come back and it would be over flowing. Or it wouldn't have skimmed anything. I've got it fixed now though.

Thanks for all of the replies.
