I am off the opinion peppermint shrimp should be classified as 'reef safe with caution.' We see these threads a lot.

I have 2 pep in my 150 and they demolished my aptasia problem in about 48 hours which was very good.
However they dont touch my majano's but they went through almost a whole colony of zoas on me. and i am sure they are eating other stuff i cant see.
Damn near impossible to get them out though. :(

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My peppermints were fine for months, well feed and one day they started on my maxi-mini anemones and ate them all in a matter of like 48 hours, while I watched helplessly unable to catch them.

Anyone tried a trap for them? We have a couple in a 20 that demolished the aptasia quickly but are now on the SPS's and Zoo's

If you can back them into a corner away from everything else and squirt them with a turkey baster full of ro/di FRESHwater, that will shock them enough to get them into a net.

I've been keeping peppermint shrimp for 2+ yrs now and have never had an issue with them. I keep a mixed reef too. Acans, hammer, zoas and acros. Shrimp touches none of em.

I tried using a bottle trap to catch a gorilla crab and my peppermint shrimp went in as soon as it hit the water. Krill seems to work well as bait.
