I have i would say I have about 200 aiptasia in a 70 gallon reef. Its a beautiful reef but these things are everywhere! I could boil rodi or use aiptasia x but i can never get every single one. How many peppermint shrimp do you think i should get? I was thinking like 10-20. But idk cause i have never done this before.

I have tried the peppermint shrimp idea like 3 or 4 different times with no luck. I have never had one to eat anything but stuff I feed the tank...

Tried pepermint a few times and they never touch it. I have one in there right now that loves the pellet food but stays away from the aptisa

Berghia nudibranch' seem to be an option, though I have no experience with them.

I had about 40 aptasia pop up in my new tank after adding some rock from another tank, I added 2 peppermint shrimp and they ate ALL of the aptasia within 3 weeks, On the other hand I bought 5 berghia slugs for my other tank awhile back at 25 bucks a pop and they didnt do a damn thing...They were about as big across as a friggin dime, didnt eat any aiptasia and I think eventually just got sucked into the overflow since I just lost track of them after about 2 weeks

I ended up adding 6 peppermint shrimp to that tank and now I MAY have 3 aptasia left

I have had great luck with my peppermint shrimp. He is a voracious eater, flake/pellet/mysis but he always has time for aiptasia.

I recently added a candy cane frag to my tank, once I had it in my tank I realized that there were tons of little aiptasia on the plug. Within 5 minutes the shrimp was there systematically cleaning the plug of the aiptasia. Within 30 minutes the plug was totally clean haha.

So it really depends on the shrimp. It also depends on the size of the aiptasia, i have heard that they generally won't go after the really big ones.

What else is in your tank fish-wise? And do you have a lot of corals with small polyps on them? If not, and have room for 1 more fish, you could add an aiptasia-eating filefish. The have them off and on at True Percula in Arlington. That was the only thing that ever worked 100% for me several years ago in a nano tank.
