hey corailline, sorry to here about your maxi's, i have 20 or so and so far they have not tasted them, i hope that keeps up, my problem was i had hundreds of glass nems they were in places i could'nt reach and they were just getting worst by the day there the only thing that as ever made me think of giving up the hobby, until i put a few of these shrimp in there, it was like a miracle to me, so i grew a love for them. i don't have alot of LPS so there's no problem there. all my coral are attached to the rock if i move them i always break them so, they were heaven sent to me. James

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It was very strange. I got them for about 10 aiptasia, not really an out break. They were fine for about 6 months, then one day I noticed one maxi gone, so I started to pay attention. I caught them red handed, so I put a basket over the maxi's to protect them and the peppermint would hang out on the basket, as soon as I removed the basket back they went. I tried to catch them but could not catch 3 of them and in 72 hours they finished off my maxi. They got feed everyday, so honestly I have no idea why they did it. I have read similar nightmares with regard to acans and peppermint on this forum, where there was not doubt.

Forgot to add I had sexy shrimp at the time and no issues between the different types of shrimp.

yea i have 20 maxi's or so, im gonna count them and take pictures so i can tell if they go after them, i tried copperbands and had success with one of them, then after about 6 months he just up and kicked the bucket, i have anotherone now for 4 months never seen him eat the glass nems. so the shimps are all i have that works for me. hope they behave. james

Now I'm thinking I should get rid of the peppermint. I didn't know that. I have sexys, peppermint, skunk, and harlequins and they all do fine.

Maybe its one of those 50/50 things like with angels. sometimes you get a good one sometimes they wreak havoc on your corals hahaha

He picked out the aiptasia as i had hoped. So i guess i got lucky as they are hit and miss, however i have noticed a few small feather dusters disappear overnight. Maybe the peppermint shrimp but i have not caught him red handed yet!
