i bought 2 peppermint shrimp 1 week ago to eat my apitasia's, they had them gone within 3 days, but after 7 days they both shed their skin the same night. is this normal.

If your water parameters are within spec there should be no reason to think that there is a problem. I have about 6 shrimp and they molt on a regular basis based on growth and iodine levels?? Anyone else...

Yeah I threw a cap of iodine in my tank a month ago and the next day my cleaner shrimp molted. Definitely something to look out for.

Ditto, all arthropods molt less frequently with age (from my understanding), crabs, shrimp, centipedes, ect. My fireshrimp molts less than monthly now, but ive found that excesssive molts due to too much iodine (this is my hypothesis) lead to shorter lifespans. They may grow a heck of alot faster but seem to compensate with shorter lifespans....not unlike power fed breeders (female fish, lizards, ect) that pump out large clutches but live short lives. As for simultaneous molts im not too sure. Sometimes it seems synchronized sometimes not. My guess is that it is brought on by changes in water chemestry.

My shrimp always molt after large water changes. I don't dose iodine anymore, so I can't comment on that, but the new water would have higher levels though, huh? :D Many shrimp molt in shipping, and usually fail to recover. I always figured PH?ALk changes in either direction sparked molts, but the iodine hyposis sounds good to me.
