hello everyone i just have a question, i recently put a peppermint shrimp in my tank to take control of all the unwanted nems. but lately i have looked in my tank at night to find it nibbling on my torch coral. my question is, is this normal and what should i do?

Yes they will do that. Catch and remove.

While not every peppermint shrimp will eat corals or display anemones some do develop a taste for them and continue to eat them until nothing is left. IME they will continue to do harm regardless of how much food is offered.

I removed mine after they ate my expensive mini-maxi anemones and started on my duncans and other lps. And yes they were indeed peppermint and not camel shrimps.

Yes they did all three. And quickly. I tried everything even covering the anemones but the peppermint shrimp won. That round anyway.

Curious as to how you caught this guy. I barely even see my coral banded.

i just threw some peppermints in my tank to get ride of the nuisance Aiptasia. i have read before of them eating corals. but its been mixed. so i thought well try it . i just ordered some mini anomne's (pictured below Pizza Anemone
Stichodactyla tapetum) i hope they dont go after them! :( the peppermints stay in the rocks so pulling them out will not be easy .

I would target feed the lps and when the peppermints came to steal I would capture them. They had to get used to the net for a couple of days first. There was no way to get them out before they finished off the anemones other than removing the rockwork.:-[

    Attention un-intentional hi-jack.

Oh those are beauties pink4miss. Really love the red coloration. Maybe if they spread you can frag them.
