Persistent red algae and hair algae

    Sounds like the tank is on the mend for now :) . My tangs would love some of that HA to munch on. Keeping nutrients down or close to zero even though you only have fish will keep a crazy bloom from happening again. Make sure that if you have any sponges in you system (within filters etc.) that you are changing or cleaning throughly very often. They have a way of collecting crap and extra food that breaks down and makes that bad stuff. A powerful skimmer takes the proteins that food and fish poo leave behind like a sponge, but they take it OUT of your system. GFO reactors are also great ways to combat the nutrients.     Just to update, all of the hair algae is GONE! I love my tank again. The GFO and skimmer have done their job beautifully, and of course weekly water changes.
