Please sign this petition if you agree or have student loans you'd like forgiven. If it gets enough signatures, the White House will respond. Maybe they will do something about student loans already taken in the past (not future ones like President Obama recently addressed). Then we can take the extra hundreds to thousands of dollars per month to spend on reef keeping and bigger tanks and more corals! So this is, sort of, fish-related, really... :)

    Thanks,
    Ryan

PS: If you can pass the link around to your friends or family who might also be interested/post on other forums/post on your twitter or facebook, that would be very helpful!

Why are you posting chain mail in the forum.

You think with all the financial troubles the world has, the white house will consider bailing out a bunch of people who cant pay their student loans.

    ha.

someone PMed and asked me what I owed. I told them I don't mind paying back what I borrowed... the principal amount ya know? For example, I borrowed $100,000 for law school. However, I'll end up paying back $500,000 for the loan with its 9.99% interest. I've already paid $200,000 back and will continue making payments for a long time to come. Just sucks you know? That $1200/month could be going towards my fish tank!!

MoJoe - In Europe (and Canada?) I don't believe you pay for daycare; or insurance; or college... So you might kid around, but it's not impossible...

    It's definitely not chain mail.

And they bail out everyone else. Why not.

They didn't pay for anything in Greece and you can see how well that is working out for them. I'm cool with restructuring debt for those who are in a bind, but people who took out a loan and can afford to repay it need to do so.

Another idea: Instead of wiping all student loans away completely; how about they eliminate all interest on them, or cap the interest at something reasonable like 1%. You only then have to pay back what you actually borrowed or a very small percentage more. And for anyone who has already paid back in excess of the loan amounts they borrowed, their repayments would be complete...
