Has any one used a PFO power compact dual 96 watt retro lighting kit.

I came across some one selling this with a broken bulb for $35. should i swoop this up? does the power compact bulbs offer good lighting for softies?

I wouldn't PFO has been out of business for several years. PC lighting is inefficient and the bulbs need to be changed more often than any other. I would suggest going with T5HO. Greater PAR, less energy used, longer lamp life, better tank penetration with individual reflectors and greater bulb selection.

It is best to save for the good stuff instead of paying more for replacing the crap with the right stuff.

If you are staying with softies and LPS it a usable option. The bulbs cost $40+ each.

Yeah i dont think i will be putting any sps in the tank. it would be nice to have a $300 light setup but its just not going to happen. its too expensive to make a 55 gallon tank work. I think i am going to save for a nano tank maybe..

As it sits now i have about 25-35 pounds of rock. i cant afford more, and i know its not enough for my 55gal. i think if i can find a nano tank for under $200 that has lights already i will be better off.

Buy dry rock it is cheaper and won't start another cycle. Bulk Reef Supply, Marco Rocks and Reef Cleaners are good places to look.
