A bit ago i started adding buffer to bump up the pH and kH.
My pH is at 8.3 and my kH is coming in at 8.0 - 8.5. I know thats on the low end of the spectrum. Should i keep adding buffer to get my kh up? or will it balance itself out?

I think you can add more.. I think your PH wont go up anymore maybe 8.4. depends on what product your using.. Im just guessing, someone else may chime in. They also sell products that just raises dKH..

i'm assuming that is dkh. If it is then ur more than ok. natural seawater measures out to 7.

it is dkh. I'm using Tetra Alk test lab.

I read the same online but the lfs says that i need it higher (10 - 12 dkh) if i want to add inverts (snails/crabs).

Should i consider going somewhere else?

no I wouldn't worry about going somewhere else but.... the snails and such do great in the ocean. My tank is an sps tank and I run mine around 7 - 8. Everyone has their own way of doing it though.

Thanks, I added half a dose of buffer tonight - it says it wont raise pH above 8.3 Brand: Seachem Marine Buffer.

Thanks for the help, i like your opinion... +karma ;D

if your buffer is made to keep the ph stable while still increasing your dkh I would raise it a bit more. dkh is a measure of your waters ability to withstand and maintain ph changes. I keep mine between 8 and 12 usually right at about 11 so if there is a drop I don't catch it won't drop below ecceptable levels.
