PH at 7.5

Hi, my tank has been up since Jan 5th 2013. I made my own rock a few years back and cured it. I used Dr. TimS one and only bacteria a few weeks ago and added one clownfish. My fish is doing great! Eats a lot and swims all over. Anyway, my PH is at 7.5. I'd like it and need it up. I just added chato to my fuge last night and had the fugelight in all night. Is the fuge to also help with PH or is my PH low because of the DIY rock made with Portland cement, sand and seashells. I have a small plug with coraline in my DT to seed the tank. But I don't think coraline will grow in low PH...

It could possibly be co2 in your house been having the same issue. If I open a window my pH goes up. I would try that first or run an air line outside to your sump or skimmer if you have on.

 

I would wait to become concerned about that pH level after the tank has at least reached the 3 month mark.

You need to test pH the same time each day to get a consistent value.

Test at the end of the lighting period to get the highest value and prior to the lights coming on to get the lowest value.

Be more concerned with ALk value than pH when you get to stocking corals.

 

DO you have an aragonite sand bed? That will certainly help maintain a higher pH as well. My money is on the DIY rock though...
