i am dosing a kalkwasser mix through my kalk stirrer and through a dosing pump at 300ml a day. ca is at 440 and all other levels are normal. my ph is just a little high:-/. i cut back my stirrer to only mix two times a day at 12am and 12 pm for one min each. i did have it at 4 times a day at one min each. 12am 6am 12pm and 6pm. any other ideas at lowering my ph or am i ok at 8.4-8.6. and if any one wants a great diy kalk mixer that looks great and does a great job let me know. thanks for the help;D

When did you test the pH? Ph levels will decline at night. Adding vinegar to your kalkwasser will help. Vinegar helps to increase carbon dioxide in the water whic lowers pH levels, also vinegar lowers the pH level of Kalkwasser that is around 12!!! The vinegar will also increase the concentration of calcium that will be available for corals and inverts by about 9%, than by dosing Kalk alone!!!!

    Yes please do. :)

Just shut the kalk off for one day and see what it reads. Are you checking with a calibrated probe or a color test strip?

IMO ph of 8.5 is much better than a ph of 7.9. It could also be a matter of your test kit accuracy. If you are around 8.3 right before "lights on" and 8.5 right before "lights out" you will be fine. Take a good look at your inhabitants, if they are showing any signs of stress, then search for the problem and fix. If everything looks fine, you are probably don't have a problem.
