    hey guys,

    i checked my ph just now and its at 7.8. i have seachem reef buffer should i add and how quick should i raise it up? dont want to lose the few guys i have?

    Okay calm down. Remember that it is early morning and your tank is at its lowest pH. Really your only about .2 from where you want to be, not a big deal. I would add enough to boost it .1 and then take another reading later in the day.

    o.k. thanx mandarin.. phew!!! just got a little nervous there . lol.. tank is going so well after my last major crash yanno? lol... i just mixed up the buffer.. ill add it now.. when should i retest? glad someone is an early riser or a late sleeper like myself.. lol..

    Retest in the afternoon, it should be higher, not just because you're adding some buffer but also because of the pH swings most tanks experience during the day.

    Oh, definitely not an early riser, simply 3reef's resident insomniac!;D

    You also might want to check calcium, alk, and mag as they all play a part in ph. Just rember to go slow.

    calcium is @ 400 ran out of alk test, have to get a mag test as well.recomendation? definitly going slow...:) thanx..

    You dont need to add any kind of buffer, unless your Alk/Dkh is low. Your PH level is going to be low in the morning b/c your tank sat there without the lights all night. That is very normal. My ph in the morning is sometimes at 7.7-7.8, like right now. Dont freak out on things like this. Dont add buffers everytime you see your ph low, only after testing for it and if you need it. If you do, you will overdose, maybe thats why your tank crashed the last time. Luna
