What causes this and what can I do to maintain this better! Any info would be great gonna be doing a water change tom so im sure it will raise it. It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Mesure the pH at the end of the photoperiod to see what your highest pH is, and test at the same time of day when you test.

You can increase pH by increasing the surface agitation of the tank water.

If you have a current magnesium level that would help as well. With a magnesium of around 1350-1500 your pH may become more stable. Some saltmixs run low on the mag and some supplementation helps, but only after you have tested the level.

Also if your house has been closed up secondary to weather the CO2 level in the house may contribute to a lower pH, this is common during winter months.

crack a window for a while if it isn't too cold. i have even read that some people run air from outside to their skimmer because of the CO2 buildup indoors.

im sure its the mag forgot about that # to check but i have a ton of surface aggitation so its either the mag or the co2 in the house. will check both and report back once I find the problem. Its very cold here so what i may do is run the airline from the skimmer out the window and see if that helps with it also the window is right next to the tank so it would not be too hard
