i have a new BNC probe that i didnt get to use with my arduino project because i gave up on the ph part lol and i was looking to buy a used Ph meter for my new tank, is it worth it? people say alk is more important and that they look at their Ph meter once a year. My tank 72g and i am going to start the cylce. Should i save my money for other test kits or is ph worth the investment?

i feel ph meters are helpful, i know when my ph drops under 8.0 it means my alk has dropped also. lately my alk runs about 7 to 8 and when the ph drops my alk is normally 6 to 7 they seems to drop together my ph normally runs 8.0 to 8.3 is its normal fluctuations

no i haven't hear of that. i have an apex controller that runs my ph probe, and before that a pin point ph monitor. i sold the pin point ph monitor, worked great but didn't need it after i purchased the apex.

Cannot comment on compatibility of equipment

but would like to add, for a few years, I was also one of the "I know my Alk is OK, so never mind the PH"

I now check both, due to having a PH probe and monitor
this means I can track daily fluctuations
always know when it is within acceptable range
and as a Vinegar doser, it is helpfull IMO to know , what that particular carbon source is doing to my PH
