I bought the Red Sea PH/Alk test and I hate it.

Can anyone recommend an easy one to read?

I use the API Alk/DKH test kit. It's easy. 5 ml of tank water. Count the drops until it turns from blue to yellow, and that's your dKH level!

I use API for both of those. The dKH is EASY to read. VERY.

The PH is very hard to tell. My next PH test I buy will NOT be API.

The Saliferts Alk/Dkh test kit is also easy to use. I have both kits. Luna

So Alk is the same as PH?

I have the API Hardness test KH that is fine? or do I need to get a PH test as well?

Is is for saltwater or freshwater?
You should just get the 2 big API kits - the saltwater master test kit, and the reefkeeper master test kit (if you plan on keeping coral) (and you'll get double nitrate tests though). And then get a redsea Magnesium kit, and that should be all you really need for now. Perhaps a refractometer too?

I have the API Reef master kit, Ammonia API test kit, Nitrite API Kit, Red Sea PH kit (Which is total crap) and I have the deep 6 Hydro Meter from Coralife which is pretty good because I have had my water test with an eye glass one and it was only like .1 off.

So I need a Mag test kit? Anything else I am about to go out and get things with christmas money and want to get usefull stuff.

    Not the same thing.

Alk = dKH in my previous response. API is great here. Which is the same as your Hardness test, KH test... just measurements of the same thing. Basically.

API PH test is very hard to read. But that is a separate test that you should have.

If you have a FOWLR(fish only) tank, you will need to test for Nh3, No2 No3, Po4 and SG(salt)

If you have a reef tank, add ; Mag, Cal, Alk/dkh and PH to the list above.

ALK and DKH is the same thing, just measured differently. Mag, Cal and alk/dkh all affect PH levels. So does No3 and the Temp of the water.
