Hi guys. I moved my tank over the weekend and cleaned both the left and right side of the glass with a razor blade. For about 8 months I didn't clean it because I had the side covered. Anyway, I also did a 25% water change. I checked my PH this morn and its at 7.7. Should I be worried? It normally hovers around 8.0
Im just wondering if somehow cleaning all the coraline and hard crusted algae off the glass effected something.

Id be more worried on the water you used to do the water change with. 7.7 isn't bad but it isn't great either. Did you mix your own water or did you get it from the LFS? The coralline had nothing to do with it.

It's probably from the water you did your water change with but .3 drop isnt a major concern it should restabilize soon, not to mention you say you checked it thismorning im assuming your lights have been out all night, maybe recheck it this aftenoon

My water is Spectrapure RO/DI I make myself. Never a problem with that.

I take it that this is your first time testing early in the morning. Simply because I know pH drops during the evening time until lights come on.

Actually yes, I forgot about that. BUT I do have a 24 lighted Fuge to help that.

That wont make a difference. Its a natural thing for pH to drop at night. A fuge light wont make it stable. You pretty much need a calcium reactor to maintain pH 24/7.

I would just test it again later this afternoon, and then test again at the same time you did in the morning and see what you get. Then you will know what kind of fluctuation you got going on.

how do you test your water? Ph monitor, Apex etc? If it's monitored electronically, it could be your probe needs to be re calibrated.
