So it is time to start another tank. It came from the neighbor's house. A month or two ago, I gave them a 10g FW tank with everything needed to operate successfully. Including fish. What I got back was a tank of death. Evidently, the fishy hobby is not for them. So I cleaned it out and am converting it to SW.

Taped up and ready to paint.....

Next was the fun part.....I used Krylon Fusion for Plastic. Works great for glass. Blue is the color of choice this time. The tank location is a little dark, so I did not want black this time.

Next was 20lbs of sand. Now, the sand came in a bag.....and it stated it was good until Oct of '09. I treated it like dead sand and added a cup of LS from my 90 (Thanks Pack). The rock is going to be all Tonga branch. I still have some in the 90 to bring over and will buy a bit from the LFS tomorrow to finish off. The Fiji in there will stay in there for the time being. I will remove it later.

I am going to keep the flow at a minimum in this tank. One airstone and whatever skimmer I put on. That is it. Right now, I have a cheap filtration system on it....which will do for now. There isn't any media in it, and it will stay that way until the cycling is over.

Eventually, this is going to be a haven for dwarf seahorses. If the SH die right and left and it turns out I have no talent in this arena, I will run a mated pair of damsels and lot's of corals with a killer skimmer.

Any advice pertaining to the seahorse endeavor is, as always, appreciated. The cycling started yesterday. I am very psyched. My wife is rolling her eyes.

Blue is ALWAYS the color of choice! Hi John - long time, no "see." I was out of town in the hot state of Florida and since I've been home, Jwin has been hogging my computer. School starts Monday!

Guys, my husband is always rolling his eyes at me! Especially today, when he walked in from golf - I had 4 bags floating in the tank from the local frag swap. Major eye rolling. ::)

The rock in the tank is way cool....Hopefully they didnt copper med it at any time. It will be a fine tank for small seahorses. I have been thinking of doing one also or converting my 55 over....Looking good Bro....

No stupid questions dude. That is the purpose of the learning curve......

Seahorses are slow with no defense mechanisms per se. So they need to be housed on their own or with fish like....pipefish are the only ones I can think of that would not harm them off the top of my head. They are very fragile creatures.

No copper in this one. It was mine originally, and I didn't give them any copper, so I am not worried. And yeah, it is not near big enough for regular sized seahorses.....only dwarf.....and maybe a little big for that. We will see.

Of course, you are right. It's so hard, I know, living up to the perfection that is, well, me::). But if you all work hard enough, you might be able to attain but a fraction of what I have done. So chin up folks.....just bask in the glory that is PJ. And celebrate.

Sorry.....don't know what got into me.
