John......Don't give up hope on your peppermints. I had mine for about 10 days and was feeling the same way. Then low and behold.......no more aptasia. I only have 1 left, I gave the other two to a friend that had a crop of aptasia, all over her tank. She thought they were beautiful  go fiqure.

Just a small post on progress. I started on the plumbing for my other overflow. I have the parts and I going to do a little more cutting tonight. I have decided on a Mag 7 as my other return. I will eventually replace my Rio 2100+ with another Mag 7 and keep the Rio as a backup.

I will also be ordering parts to build a DIY ATO. It is about time. I left room between the stand and the wall for such a device. Then I am going to make a drip system for Ca and Mg. I want constant infusion for both. Then, all I have to do is manually adjust my ALK. So that is the plan as of now. Should keep me busy for awhile. Parts from DFS will be coming in next week. Next paycheck will see an order from them.

lol exactly what i was thinnking about the p shrimp, i bought one and put it in the tank... he went straight into the rocks... never saw him for a day or two so i said ok hes just acclimitazing to the new thank etc etc

6 days went by and i thought he must be dead somwhere in my rocks so i checked the levels and everything was fine..... did he jump??? no where to be found around the tank....

    Turns out Theyre N O C T U R N A L.... ::)

lol well that solves it... when your lights are totally off for at least an hour and its dark around the tank take a flashlight and quickly scan your tank... and you will proably see him somwhere eating...

Yeah, I just bought a few syringes with 22g 1" needles and a small amber oval which will be used to house the mix. So in the next few days, I will mix it up and start the injection process. Death to all apthasia!!!!! (or at least all I can see and get to).

    Poopy shrimp.

Yup.....I read that also......after I bought them:-/. Oh well. I did see one of them briefly yesterday. So at least 50% of them is alive.....and well......and sleeping on the job.

    Testing

Well, I came home today and my mushroom coral was withdrawn and my kenya tree was drooping and getting a little grey. So I did some parameter testing and this is what popped up

    Temp: 82
    pH: 8.2
    SG: 1.025
    NH4: 0.35
    NO2: 0
    NO3: 10 (d)
    PO4: Present (d)
    Combined Iodide/Iodine: NT
    Iodate: NT
    Ca: 390 (d)
    Mg: 1410 (d)
    dKH: 8.4

    Notes:

NH4: I am presuming that the tank move started that cycle and it is still going. I am running filter socks at the output of my skimmer and the input to my sump. I change them out every other day.

    *****I dosed with Prime*****

Ca: Too low. I want to keep it at 460. I will dose tonight.

dKH: Way too low. I dosed with Reef builder and brought the reading up to 11.2. I have yet to retest the pH, Ca and Mg.

The Kenya tree started to perk up a bit, but the mushroom coral is still flat. No polyp extention.

And here are some pics of the new finger leather I picked up at the LFS yesterday. It is not fully extended yet, but it has only been in the tank 24 hours.

    My new leather

My wrasse. I have yet to get the perfect pic of him. Always on the move.

Here is a good pic of my blenny that I got a few days ago.

And my little girl took a pic of me. Instead of putting it on the "get to know you board, I'll drop it here, because that would mean I would have to open another window and I just don't have that much energy tonight.

Now all you women......hold back. I know......it's difficult. But you must maintain some dignity.;D
