Yeah.....I actually saw a juvenile RCW at the LFS and almost bought it. But in the end I figured that there may be something about my tank that would doom it as it did his brethren. So I opted for my second choice.....Dori. Yes. It's name is Dori. I didn't have a choice.

Next I need to do something about my lighting. My wife has OK'd a $200 or $250 expenditure toward the cause. I cannot get her to agree with the TEK. And I do not want to put any more money into the PCs (the bulbs are nine months old). So, for the time being, I think I may settle for two 4x54W T5 really, really cheap fixtures (yes, bulbs included.....it hurts to say.....), which would still be an upgrade. Oh well.....something's better than nothing.

Man, I'm sorry. That sucks big time, and I know that tang had been with you for a while.

Yup. And even though he was not one of my favorites visually, I had a special connection with him. He was my first (and only) save using a hospital tank. Had a really bad case of ich. What a surprise, huh. I used malachite green. It stained the silly-cone bigtime. I dug it so much, that's what I made my nano out of....the old hospital tank.

I hope all else gos well for you.. Your tank is looking good.. !!
And ANY upgrade is an upgrade..
You said you were going to raise your Ca from 440 to 500..??
I thought 440 was what we should shoot for.. Or did I misread/misunderstand..

    Good Luck, Larry

It is as long as the Mg is in line with that number. The optimal Ca:Mg is 1:3.25. My Mg is a little over 1600 (I blew my last dosing). So in order to keep the ratio, I want to keep the Ca around 500. I will temper the system with lots of bicarb to buffer and keep the dKh between 12 and 15.

Oh yeah....with a few of my corals are not doing so well. My Xenia is not as it should be.....but Xenia in my tank just doesn't seem to work. The finger leather got stung very badly by the condy a few weeks ago and still hasn't recovered. I am going to move things around tonight and see if that works.

Thats interesting with the xenia. Does really well in some but not others, with no apparent reason. Was it the same species as the last one you tried?
