Hey John Great thread. Just a thought. If you run a de-Nitrater are you not removing the nitrates before your Marco has an opportunity to consume it? I would assume that is the reason you are loosing Macro

You have a great point. As soon as my nitrates get close to zero, I plan on hanging it up. But even with a modest fuge and running the denitrator, I still have levels of 40ppm plus. So right now, it is just a back up system taking care of the extra.

Well, good news with the macros.....my nitrates are starting to drop. They were above 40 not too long ago, 40 last week, and measured out at 30 today. I have had the extra macros in for three days now. Things progressing nicely. I am a happy camper.......

Thanks for the help on the skimmer for the 20 gallon. I've been an avid follower on ur 90gallon thread and the tank and upgrades look great....hopefully you get that Tek light soon and how is the sea apple doin because you sure have some guts for putting one of those in your tank. Good to see that there is a fellow 3reef member with a 90 gallon cause I love my 90 gallon.

Yeah...I really like the size. I had the 75g before and didn't really like it just because I had to bend down to look in it when I was close up. But now with an extra six inches to deal with, I can look straight in and, as always, life is good.

And Sea Apples get a bad wrap. Yeah, they can kill a tank (and your neighbor's along with it), but you really have to make them annnnnngry. As long as params are acceptable and fish don't try to eat it, you are good to go.
