Well I got a really good look at the monster eye lash. It is out right now and the lights are on. Looks like it woke up early. The morphology fits a tube worm. I'll post a pic a little later.

    Edit: Pic available.......here it is

I do have a case of popeye in my tank. My little yellow-tail damsel is affected by a minor case of it. It's right eye is bad. So the plan of attack is to keep the water chemistry as good as possible, mix a little garlic juice into the food and feed a little bit daily for three or four days (or until it clears). I am sure it is a mechanical injury, so I'll just bolster the immune system of all the fishies and go with it.

My skimmer is starting to skim a little more now. I did a half turn, then backed off a quarter when I realized I was going to work up the column too far. I think I have it maxed now.

The case of popeye is gone. It was a transcient problem. The eye sustained no damage.

I took the prefilter off the Mag9 feeding the skimmer to see if I get more skimate. I had to re-adjust and am playing the waiting game. So far I see no difference.

I am topping off a half gallon daily. Taught my boy how to top off and how to problem solve microbubbles.

The Coral Banded Shrimp is growing back it's main pincers. They were lost during the transition from the 75 to the holding tank. In it's first molt since then, the pincers are at about 70% length. Incredible. I expected maybe 30% max.

Took the flower pot, the longnosed hawkfish and the magenta dottyback to the LFS for credit. I left with a 10g of RO, a nice Zoo rock and a Coris Wrasse (adult). I have been holding out for a juvi, but two months have passed and I am sick of waiting. An adult was available. I took it. I have no pics of the wrasse as it is hiding. It was out and about for a bit, but is nervous now. It did not come out for feeding. Here are some pics.

The ever popular anenome shot with friends.....

A close up shot. The anenome moved pretty rapidly to it's current spot. It stayed at the bottom of the tank for a long time. The PCs were not penetrating that deep. They couldn't have been. He moved a good clip in a few hours higher in the tank.

I do a 25g water change tomorrow to get rid of some ammonia and a little phosphate. I am going to use an additive tonight to bind the phosphate and get it out of there. Temp sol'n until I get my fuge up and running.

Just dosed with Phostphate-E. Four capfuls will do it. My phosphates were 0.8ppm. The skimmer has started to work hard. We'll see what happens. I am doing full spectrum testing in the morning.

Would you think the Skimmer started working hard after dosing because it is removing all the additives just put in?

I had started turning off the skimmer when I noticed this and found better results from dosing..

BTW, what the heck is "full spectrum" testing ?

Not to speak for people, but I've used this term when I mean I'm going to run each and every one of my tests.

I was a little leary of the directions on the package. It said to put the product at the inlet of the pump to the skimmer. I expected the skimmer to go nuts, but not because of the additives. The additive is supposed to combine with the phosphate and make the water cloudy. I did not notice that. Then then the cloudiness (presumably particulate matter now), is caught by any socks and or skimming that you may have. I will know if it did any good here when I test my phostphates. They should be close to 0 now.
