Hey Guys and Gals I am using one of the 2 little fishes Phosphate reactors and I have bee using the Phos Ban media for a while I just ran out and before I order more does anyone use anything else in a reactor like this that might be a little better or easier to use ? ( I hate rinsing out the phos ban it seems to take forever and if you get any of it anywhere it stains instantly) I have heard good things about Rowa Phos any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks 8)

All of the ferric oxide products will have that brown color. I just take the powerhead out of the sump and drop it into a bucket of water and run the reactor until the water coming out turns clear. It doesn't take but 45 seconds.

On the phos ban it said to rinse first so I have been using a screen strainer to rinse before adding it to the reactor. I guess I could skip that step but I was worried about clogging up the foam filters inside the reactor .

Granular ferric oxide is great and ferric oxide hydroxide(Phosban) is even better...But many commercial PO4 removers do a good job as well and have the ability to be regenerated, such as Seachems phosphate remover.

The issue with cleaning it should pale in comparision to the work the media is doing for YOU!!

    Happy Rinsing!!

I also use Phosban in a bag in my HOB AquaClear. I use to use Phosguard and personally I think Seachems line of products don't work too well. Even their customer service I once called were all female. What do they know
