I run FO and carbon in the tlf phosban reactor 150 that Luna mentioned..works like a charm. go for it...

EDIT: And for media, as long as it is ferric oxide...it's good to use for PO4 removal. Some brands are more expensive than others...but honestly, i haven't experienced a difference between ROWAphos or phosban or even pura's phoslock (which is like 15 bucks cheaper)

What kind of pump you running on that reactor?

Sounds like this would be a relatively cheap addition that should do some good!

I bought one to test out.... Mine leaks where the tube fits onto the hose barb, I've tried everything to rectify it and it always leaks alittle. I knew I should've made my own!!

What kind of flow are you putting through it? If memory serves me right, it can only handle 25-50 gph or something to that effect. Luna

I am using the small Rio pump that came with it, its flow is barely anything.

What I plan to do is essentially build the same thing but out of PVC, I don't really care if I can't see into it. Once I start I will post some pics or blue prints!

I would like to make my 5 gal Culligan skimmer first though!!

Ordered me a reactor through my LFS this afternoon. $40 with pump, can't go wrong - can't remember the brand, but I trust the guy and he says they're great.

I use 2 phosban reactors on my tanks. One is for carbon which I use Hydrocarbon II and the other I use phoslock. I have a maxi-jet 1200 hooked up to it and seems to be doing well. I got a good deal from my LFS since I bought so many of them

thank for the replies. I'm still deciding if I want to buy one or make it out of pvc. What kinds of flow rates do you want going through it to be most effective?
