I installed a phosban reator over a week ago and im still getting dust algae over my glass.

I added more pressure so it tumbles alittle more as it clumped together with low pressure.

Does it take a while for it to remove phosphate ?

I did a check and it came out 0.10

    * I feed algae strips and half a cube daily.

Are you thawing the cube and straining out the shrimp?
If not, 1/2 a cube a day is putting a ton of unnecessary nutrients in the tank!

    That good.
Well, I think you're gonna need to detail your physical equipment setup and what you have in the tank, how long it's up, is this a recent problem or new and what not, more details, more suggestions...

120 Gallon - 30 KG of live rock.

Protein skimmer capable of 180 gallons , Overflow with sump with live rock. I have activated carbon in media bag

    10-15 snails ( hermits etc )

    lieutenant tang
    yellow tang
    two small clown fish
    Dottyback
    fire shrimp

Tanks been up for 2 months so i expect some algae but its rather annoying.

    Interesting...
    That's a fairly light bio-load for a 120 so I'd say.
    1. Exactly what media and how much are you using in the reactor.
    2. Are you using ro/di water? If not, that will be a contributor.
    3. Are you doing regular water changes and how many gallons?
    4. You could always get more life rock. In a tank that size, you could easily have 60 KG (...if you can afford it!).
    5. Activated carbon in a bag that's thrown into a sump will ultimately not do much of anything. It's needs a good controlled flow thru it to trap contaminants - not that it's going to help with the phos level anyway.

oops, I just missed that last line the 1st time I read it.
2 months is still fairly early in for a 120. I'd say if you're using ro/di water, and have some good GFO in the reactor, you'll be good pretty soon!

You are still cycling and the algae is proof of it. It should go away on its own. Usually you will get either diatoms or some hair algae. Its all the process of a new tank. As for GFO, there should be minimal slight tumbling or you will exhaust GFO to fast. If you don't have any corals you can do a total blackout until it goes away or cut down the photo period. Your tank is still young so you have to be patient.

I have already gone through the diatom stage. I must say my lights are on for 12 hours a day. I will cut that down. I do have corals mainly softies

I'm using PhosBan (Phosp. Adsorption Media) 150g which came with the reactor.
