Im undecided on which is better for my tank? I have about .25 phoshates and they hold pretty steady there with phosguard, but I was reading that Chemipure elite combats the phosphates and also many other benefits.
    Whats everyone choice?

Chemipure Elite is carbon and chemical absorbants with a little bit of GFO thrown in for good measure to help maintain phosphates. Phosguard is 100% for the removal of phosphorus. If your water is clear and you don't have high nitrates, stick with the Phosguard. Chemipure Elite is a fine product. It's just that it's purpose is a little different from what you are looking for.

Try the Chemi-Pure Elite. If it does not do the trick then go to GFO in a reactor. You should be using the Chemi-pure in a canister filter to get the most benefit from it.

So your saying any system SHOULD have it regardless?

I think he means that for best results you should put it in a canister filter if available. Not that every tank needs to use it.

EDIT: I would go with a GFO reactor with either BRS GFO or phosgaurd over both of those being passively used.

I wouldn't use either. Chemipure Elite is good, but expensive and is not a very efficient way to run GFO. May want to use occasionally if you want to filter other things, but there are cheaper ways to remove phosphate. Phosguard is aluminum oxide based, not granular feric oxide. This has been discussed extensively and the problem is it could potentially be toxic to some inhabitants. GFO is safer IMO.

All good info IMO, but if you don't care, can skip to "Inputs of Aluminum in Reef Aquaria: Phosguard"

So the chemi pure is not even close to as effective in removing phosphates as phosguard?

Nope. That's not it's primary purpose. Chemipure Elite is Chemipure with a little GFO.
