I was just wondering if phosGuard will hurt inverts or coral?

Well, you don't want to use too much too quickly, if you're just starting to use it.

You also need to be vigilant about changing it. Aluminum oxide based phosphate removers like Phosguard will leech nutrients back into the tank once they're full. I think they can also leech other stuff at that point, too, like aluminum.

If your talking about the Seachem Phosguard it does not leech phosphates or silicates back into the water, you can dry phosguard and reuse it until it is exhausted. I actually take it out of my tank let it bake in the sun for a bit and reuse it and it works great.
