    Help someone,
    I have 20gal long. I use a canister filter,protein filter, and a 20 gal filter for support.
    OK ,
My Phosphates have been high 1ppm. I searched for the problem. I tested everything I am using, no readings. I heard it could be my carbon in the filter. I needed a cure so I went out and got a phosphate reactor.
I put phos lock in it. the reactor seems to be working fine but I tested my water and it seems I may have new tank syndrome.
My ammonia is high , It was 0ppm, nitrites arevisable , they were 0ppm. and my nitrates were no higher than 20ppm. they are the same 10ppm.

Can anyone help. I don't know what to do. Do I shut off the reactor or just let it run its corse. and is this new tank syndrome or does this happen to everyone?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    Please help,
    Howie123:eek:

I have a filter on my tank too--you should change out your carbon once a week-I keep 3 different packages of carbon and change 1 out each week, also new filter floss each week, stuff will build up there and give you trouble. It takes the Phosban a while to work, so don't give up. You should look at how much you feed, you may be overdue, I was --now I feed every other day and rinse all frozen food before feeding it.

it could be your water also adding to the prob. u mix your water with tap or ro water. i first used tap and it caused alot of algae and other things to occur. then i invested in an ro/di unit and all that went away in a few water changes.

I don't think that dead fish is your problem.
Doesn't help but tell us some things.
    What is your water source?
How much and what do you feed?
    Which test kit?
    How old is the tank?
