Can you set up the reactor ( Two Fishes ) outside of the refugium and allow it to drain back into the fuge ?? or would this mess up the plant's food ??

I was going to draw the water from the fuge and drain it into the sump....but if it would be ok to drain back into fuge, would be alot easier?

    Thanks

I dont think it will make a big diff where you feed back into your system - as long as you dont messup and overflow lol. First phos reactor?

Yes First Reactor. I was thinking that if I use the reactor in the fuge.....as it is supplied from the DT ( gravity flow ) ...should I have a sock on the inlet....to keep the debris from entering the Fuge ? srry...just killing time before i start setting the reactor up ...I have a problem of " over thinking" things sometimes, rather then follow the K.I.S.S. principal.

Fuge is a 30 gallon octogon plexiglass

Cant hurt - give it a try and take a look after a week or two and see how the sock looks.

I would not put a sock before the fuge. You want all the junk to get in there. Watch putting the water back in the fuge because you will mess with the low flow it needs. I would pull and dump from the sump if it's possible.

Its up and running ...and has low volume flow....added a Maxjet 1200 with a ball valve to regulate the pressure...then rigged a small pipe across the top of fuge to better dispurse the circulation...I added a 18" floresent light 6500 to provide lighting.

What i learned ......1" bulkhead not sufficient for gravity flow back into sump from the fuge....can only allow less then 1/4 flow from the HOB into the Fuge as the 1" will not keep up with flow....which is not a bad thing as I need low volume.

Adding the fuge...approx 25 gallons .....really changed the water levels for awhile until I could get the timing back inline....it all seemed so simple .....divert some here and then back into the sump what was taken out seems easy enough......LOL took a little messing with, but it all worked out.

I think its all working ...no problems so far ....and its running smooth....

And thanks Otty about the sock....that was my thoughts as well...but when I went to get some plants ...the LFS recommended me to put a sock on the fuge to keep stuff from coming into the fuge....I kinda thought it was more benificial to have it flow with the stuff from the tank.

    Questions ........

The sand was new (1" crushed coral + 1" LS) .....and I added LR from the 90 gallon to thin it out a little .....I added the new water with matched salinity and temp. Should I expect a small cycle in the tank ? and would this qualify for as Water Change ?? 90 Gallon + 10 gallons in Sump.....now added about 25 gallons new with the fuge ??

    Should I run the lights 24/7 ?
Do I have to wait to add pods ??

I guess a photo would be helpful

I would have done a water change in the main tank and fill the fuge with the removed water but it should be fine as it will gradually mix with the new water. Some say to run the lights 27/4 others say 12hrs reverse lighting (when main tank on fuge off..fuge on main tank off) its what you observe is most effective. I found running 24/7 brought nitrates to 0 so I use that. I would personally let the fuge run for a couple days and then add some pods..As long as fuge conditions match tank conditions pods will be fine they are pretty hardy
