Can anyone tell me what the best ones out there are and what I should get to fill them?

I have a low level of phosphates in my tank and I am starting to see some red algae and possibly gha.

I do water changes every 2 days because nitrates are high....but I want to add a phosphate reactor to the system also.

What ones work best and whats the consensus on them?

cant tell you which the best is

can give you my opinion that the two little fishes phosban reactor is OK IMO

I would never have a reef tank that did not have GFO employed in it

I like Rowaphos and Tropic marin elimi phos

I was eyeing that one up. The 150 model.

So what do I put in it...just that ROWA Phos? I am looking at that now and it comes in a bag?

Do I just put the bag in there and then run it? Do people mix anything else or use 2 things in there?

Sorry....I just have no clue about these things! Never had one or set one up before!

I would always run it on its own in a reactor
as its difficult to find 2 chemical media that exhaust at same time
or that require identical flow rates

in my vertex rx6 duo Ca reactor the last chamber is for running phosban. if your phosphates are low that is good. the media is made to remove them from the water. they sale it in the bag for people that dont have reactor so you can use it in an hob filter. i use seachem phosban. its just lil pellets. so if the phosphates are low then i would look at lighting or nitrates for your algae prob.

i agree. seachem elite carbon has some phosban in it but i dont put much stock in it. reactor is the way to go. imo:)

    Ill just clarify my meaning

if I had a reactor - then GFO on its own
if I was running it in a HOB or cannister filter where its in a mesh bag
then I would have a bag of GFO a bag or 2 of purigen and a bag of carbon
and just replace or regenerate the different bags at different times

I just would not want loose carbon and GFO for example in same reactor
as the carbon exhausts quicker than GFO in my set up so I would end up discarding GFO to early or worse carbon to late

    Good Advice everyone....thanks.

I think I am going to get the Phosban 150 and just put the ROWA Phos in it. That should do me a lot of good!

From the sounds of things here though a lot of people use carbon too?!?
How can I implement that into my system?
