I'm getting a lot of hair algae lately and other brown algae, currently i use a pouch inserted into one of the compartments of my cannister filter, about time i gave another tried and trusted method to control my phosphates, so i think i will buy a phosphate reactor, i 'm thinking of getting one of these, anybody with any experience with them or comments would be most helpful, along with possible media to put in...

    Thanks a bunch....Stingray...

There's not a whole lot to them. The cleartides model already comes with a pump, tubing, ball valve, and free shipping so that is going to be the cheaper of the two you're looking at.

Phosban 150 works well, I have used them in the past -- I replaced the cheesy plastic hose clamps with good ones....but that's just me being cautious.

Stingray...is your avatar pic from the Grand Caymans ? I think I took several pics that look just like it while on the sandbar....

+1 on the 150 Phosban reactor, I run it with a maxi-jet 400 pump with no issues. I would also suggest getting the extension kit as it is aesthetically much nicer for the input/outflow: Phosban Reactor 150 Extension Kit - Filters - Modular Filters at BigalsOnline=

I have been running Chemi Pure Elite in mine and have slowly beaten my red slime problem with it's help. Also recommend Rowa media.

You can get it all from BigAl's and don't forget to use the 3REEF code to get 10% off.
