I just got a Eheim ecco 35g canister filter from a friend and want to run a phosphate remover but I have no idea what brand to go with. My phospates aren't very high 0.25ppm after a water change 0.5ppm after a week. Fluval lab series caught my eye but the fishstore that I work at also sells a Kent Marine phosphate remover and a Kent Maine phospate sponge which says it needs to be replaced every 2 days. I'm also open to other brands. I just have no clue how to choose a good remover.

    Thanks in advance guys!

I've seen a few lately that have had problems with their corals dying after applying phosphate remover liquids, sponges, etc. The problem is that it is harmful to reduce phosphates too quickly. When applying GFO, you need to add a fraction of the recommended amount for the first few weeks.

Before i got an ro/di unit, I used Kent Phosphate Sponge in my Magnum 350 canister filter. Back then I was plagued with constant diatom blooms and fighting algae of one kind or another. The sponge did a wonderful job!!! I wouldn't recommend GFO in a canister filter. BRS has GFO reactors for like $35 :)
