Im debating whether or not phosphates are causing my zoanthids to close up and die as well as some sps i have.

would 0.25ppm phos and 10ppm no3 cause that cause this?

I'm not 100%, but most softies should be ok with those numbers.

The only thing is that some wild-collected softies may not be used to aquarium conditions normally associated with softies, rather they may be used to conditions normally reserved for acropora type corals.

Im a hundred percent on the nitrate but not the phosphate, the nitrate isn't causing the zoas to die my dad had some zoas in a tank were the nitrates were over 100ppm

The phosphate may be the issue for the zoas and most likely is for your SPS, and most likely will become one for hair algae growth. On the zoas check for nudibranchs.

My LFS told me phosphates *can* start causing harm around 0.5 ppm, so your level should still be okay. Have you tried moving them to different spots in the tank? My zoas do poorly in some areas and great in others, with no obvious reason to me.
