Anyone know if there are any photoselective films that can cut out all sunlight other than the 10,000 -14,000 range? Maybe something that's used in green houses or anyone out there that is using natural sunlight in propogation tanks?

Yes we set up 3 large grow out system this summer to see how it would go making plans now to build the hot house works really well for growth but you need to color them up with 03 and 14K M/H's Why would you want to use film ?

I want to use the film to stop algae growth. I think I want to set up a grow out tank and maybe a full outdoor tank with fish and everything. In a grow out tank you don't need a filter do you? You have any plans for propogation tanks?

We have prorogation tanks now for Corals thats what we do and we also have a 10,000sq ft totally glass building at a School where the Guy I work with teaches Marine Biology and over see;s the Dept's and there we spawn clowns and many species of F/W fish and clams And sea horses and and several species of marine game fish . Trout and flounder stuff like that its a learning school . Sun light has never been an issue.

Amcarrig: I'm not really planning a trip up for other reasons but I'd come up to look at Tangs setup. I'm really interested in propogation tanks at the moment.

I don't actually live right by the ocean. I live about 2 miles away.

I was thinking about setting up a propogation tank in my backyard and splitting recordias in it for export just as a hobby. I don't know if there is a market etc or the cost of shipping,,, permits etc. But I wanted to investigate. Even if it's not feasable to do it comercially I'd like to have an outdoor tank lit by the sun. I think it would be awesome to have somthing like this in my backyard, but I was guessing that the corals wouldn't have the greatest color without actintics. Hence my questions about photoselctive shields. So if anyone has any info....

The colors of all the corals are bad in natural light we have to color them under M/H's and actanics. Sunlight does nothing for the looks of them really
