I am so tired of the blue 20k bulbs. I have a heavily stocked 90g tank with sps, lps and tons of fish. I am torn between sticking with the 20k or switching to 15k, 14k or 10k. Please help me choose.
Just so you know the specs I am running 3 stage lighting, (2) 250w MH HQI's, (4) 65w actinics, and LED moonlights.

I'd say if you still want some blue, the 14,000K Iwasaki is a nice color crisp whitish blue.
A lot of the 15k, 14k bulbs on the market, in reality are pretty close to 20K, such as the Hamilton, Reeflux, Phoenix, etc...

Edit: sorry the reeflux is "12K" however, most reviews say it's more like 20K.
Also, the Phoenix should give the best par of the "bluer bulbs".

Of course, it's tough to beat the XM 10K for shear PAR, but it is a bit yellow. Of course the Actinics will help. The Ushio 10K is probably a bit whiter and still has very good par. May not be a bad way to go.

With the actinics - I would go 10K or 14K. With actinics and 14K pheonix 250W in my office 430 Gallon Tank - its a deep, pleasing bur still bright blue. If you are looking for a slightly whiter look - go with the 10K's - your actinic accent will balance it all out.

what ballast are you using to drive the bulbs (or is it a fixture?), that will make a lot of difference in the color a bulb will put out.

Its a fixture and I was thinking of going with the 14k's or 10k's, I am so done with the blues. I have a great collection of corals but everything looks blue! I am a bit reluctant to go with the 10k, but can anyone confirm whether or not I will get better growth?

Oh ok, for my first foray into MH's I am running a mogul based pendant and a Radium 20K bulb driven by a Galaxy e-ballast. I was very worried it would be too blue, but so far it's really been more a white with just a tinge of blue. It's possible the bulb hasn't fully burned in, but I'm def not overwhelmed by blue with it. I was between that and a Phoenix 14K.

Phoenix 14k is my favorite. I used to run 10ks, now when I see a tank with 10k's it looks so yellow and fake. Phoenix 14k is blue for about a week until they get broken in, then they look perfect. I run 250 watt Ice Cap ballasts
