Me and the LFS agree that they are some kind of blue polyps but does anyone know the real name.

Blue clove polyps ( Clavularia), beautiful but beware. They can and will spawn and then you're in trouble.

I think they are just stunning love the coloration but they can cover entire tanks.

You mean when it spawns? You don't, some will filter out but some will settle on the substrate and glass.

If you want to propagate it just place some rubble next to the main colony and it will spread.

It is truly a beautiful coral, I have seen entire nanos covered by it, the bottom all the rock work on the walls. Quite the sight, but not for me.

If you like blue/green Sympodium would be a better choice.

Pretty sure you missed this one!

I think it's sympodium. I have a lot in my tank and that looks just like my sympodium.

I would've guessed a Xenia of some sort, looks just like mine except much smaller polyps and a different color. I'm scared of Xenia now after seeing it in a lot of tanks. Right now I keep mine tucked away in the back corner by my macro algae lol. Really like it but I don't want it to take over like I know it will if I put it on the right rocks

You could very well be right. I have never had Sympodium.

Seen a lot of blue cloves though, a closer image might help.

Lets see what Vinny and John say as they both have Sympodium.

    :)

+1 on being careful with it! LOL I just posted asking how to get rid of it. I've always known it as just blue clove polyps, different from sympodium. Check out my build thread, it has spread everywhere! It is a beautiful coral, just not when it's growing over everything else. ;)
