thanks, i didn't really know what to expect, but the drive was well worth it.

you guys would not believe the tank that these came out of. 75 gal, no sump hooked up, and a cheapo prizm skimmer with a tek 4 bulb. this guy had to have more coral than water! i've seen those crazy japanese sps tanks stuffed to the brim with corals, but this was just all piled in there. he told me on the phone that he had lost a few of my frags and i was like "what the heck?" but now i can see why. i have no idea how that set up can sustain that amount of coral. but he hooked me up with great looking corals for less than the price asked so who am i to question his work? i guess it just proves theres a little flex to the rules of the hobby. i wouldnt recommend it though...

by the way, what are you guys' views on reefs in a smoking household. i know some people get a little anal and wont even spray windex in a room with a tank. wouldn't the smoke settle and polute the tank?

    hi Joseph

smoked for 30 years almost to the day myself
but never smoke in my front room, always smoke outside or on the balcony

my concern is more for the humans that share the enviroment with me ( dont smoke when my children are on the balcony either)

But yes - I cant believe the fumes would be ideal for my tank either

i'm overly sensitive to it, basically because i'm allergic to... well pretty much everything and a little smoke starts me a-snottin' and a-sneezin' and i would like to think i'm tougher than a box of water. i just picture my tank as this fragile balance of life to which even the slightest human error will result in cataclysmic consequences manifest as algae, deaths, or floods. i don't like it when i have to question my assumptions...;)

Regarding smoking, well, I hate smoke smelling houses, not only is it bad for the people, any pets, dogs cats, etc, it certainly cannot help.

I would think that smoky air can't help a reef tank either. I bet the gas exchange is not as good as if there were no smoke smell.

I gave up smoking about as quickly as I picked it up. I started when i was in Germany as an exchange student, and then I had to give that ahbit up since I was not old enough to smoke in the states. I re started smoking only at bars when i turned 21, but gave that up about 6 months after I satrted.

I have yet to touch anything like that since. Well, outside of the college funny cigarettes.:smokin:
