the goniopora's like "dirtier" water. not up on alveo's , they may like it down on the sand bed also. keep an eye on it. cyclopeez may work in regards to feeding your flower pot. your new additions look great. thnx for sharing.

Yup, he's serious. You'll also have to feed that sun coral. :)

cyclopeeze is my choice for small meaty foods. try that for your flower pot, marine snow goes well with it and your corals will love it.
as for your sun coral. you have to tease it with food for them to open up.

See this article on sun polyps http://www.3reef.com/forums/coral-month/coral-month-july-06-sun-coral-tubastrea-36692.html

for feeding the sun coral i cut a plastic bottle in half and drilled holes all around and one on the cap large enough for a turkey baster, placed over the coral to surround it from other food competitors and to prevent food from getting everywhere in the tank. remember too much food can spoil your water if not consumed.

I have a green flower pot myself, it's a very very cool little coral.

I'm hoping to keep it alive for as long as I can. I learned more about it after purchase, evidently they do very poorly in captivity and 12 mos is usually a pretty successful run with one ("renta-corals" is a pretty popular terminology for it :( ).

I squirt cyclopeez at the individual 'flowers', but the problem then becomes that my other fish pick at the coral trying to get the food off it. It's a pretty tough trick but we'll see how it goes.

I have cyclopeeze and I've been using it once a week just a little for the fish. I did try it last night and the sun coral came out a little bit. I'm gonna try using the cyclopeeze tonight as well to see if the flower pot eats it. I have to feed my fish first. I've been trying the mysis shrimp to get the sun coral to come out completely but no luck yet. If it comes out I'll take a picture of it. And thanks everyone for the compliments and help. I did do the research on the sun coral and checked out the Coral of the month article. It helped along with a few other threads about them. I now did the reasearch on the alveapora (aka flower pot). It did end up having 12 tentacles.

nice looking tank, if you add mysis, brine shrimp, etc to the tank the sun coral should open up, then make sure you target feed each polyp, since each one is it's own separate coral head

Thanks for the tips. I thought brine wasn't healthy for corals?? All I use as far as shrimp goes is mysis.
