Welcome to the "radion" clubs I run mine on natural shallow reef and at 70% and my Acros are growing well and all my corals open completely so far. I do keep an eye on all of them to make sure all are happy.

I will suggest that if you want to bring them to 100% that you have the light 10-12" from water to prevent any loss from too much light. Also, if you see your fish hiding too much is cause the light is bothering them.

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy the light as much as I do.

My friend works for ecotech and he said optimal is 8" above the water. I have a piece of glass on top of my tank to keep the water and fishes in and the cats out so I'm sure I'm loosing some par. Thanks for the info!

When I first put my light on all my fish went into hidding. Set the light at 70% with acclamation for 2 weeks starting at 45% by the time but I had it on the setting to make the color show more and then change the color with the lights being at the same intensity, big mistake, my clowns and the chinos went into hide out most of the time and I remember reding here on 3reef about fish getting sunburned from the light so I set the acclamation once again and now my lights are a 70% no problem. So, it can be done but you have to be carefull and acclamate.

I understand the the optimal position is 8" above the water level but at 10 tne spread is a tad better and the penetration of the ligh still very good. I do have a glass top on my tank and still have good penetration all the way to the sandbed. Mind you that my tank is 24" deep with about 4" deep sandbed.
