I'm making a trip to World of Fish in Minneapolis, MN tomorrow to pick up a new 75 gallon tank and stand, I'm also taking most of my tropical fish to trade in, I sure do have a lot of freshwater fish. Already sold one of 55 gallons, just waiting on selling the other one to get my 75 up and running, but I do have to break down 2 55 gallon tanks and rearrange my dorm room for the 75, also getting my cpr overflow, korallia 3, purple up, and mag 9.5 tomorrow from petsolutions.

Price of oak tank, glass lids and strip light, $159
    Price of pine stand $139
    mag 9.5 $65
    cpr overflow $100

    Total about $465
Craigslist the strip light and putting my 2 150 watt halides over the tank and making it shine

    Priceless!

Always wanted to do one of those

I can't wait to put everthing together and finally see water flowing through it. Its going to take me awhile to rearrange my dorm room and I know to take lots of pictures.

Ouch...75 gallon for a dorm room? --- hope you plan on staying there a while. At least thru grad school to make it worth while. These tanks are not easy to move and must be attended to 24/7 year around.

Guess there goes your spring/winter/summer breaks also.

A reef tank takes a good deal of care, maintenance, and responsibility.

Just be sure you know what you are getting into.

Keep us posted on how all goes...

I'm a resident advisor, so I pretty much at work all the time in my room, and I've been in the same building for the last 2 years and last 2 summers so I won't be moving for awhile maybe in another year and half until I graduate. I finally did take a vacation for 11 days over winter break, all my tanks did pretty well, didn't lose anything in my 29 gallon saltwater, did lose a 2 mollie in a 5 gallon that had a bad case of ick and 1 african cichlid that my brother pawned off on me the day of my flight. I was thinking about it constantly for those 11 days though. I'm going with the 75 because I'm getting out of freshwater, maintaining 2 55 gallon freshwater tanks and a 29 gallon tank requires a little bit of work, at the beginning of first semester I had 2- 55s, 2-29s, a 10 and a 5 gallon going, now that was work, but I wanted to go all saltwater to make my life easier, focus all my efforts into the 75.

By the way does anyone have a job for me when I graduate in 2 years? lol
