Black sand and water added. Still need to purchase filter and for light to arrive. For now she runs with a temp filter that has been in my sump for a few months.

Love black sand! Great add - looks sophisticated :) although my old eyes can't discern the sand, it looks like a black bottom........

I love the black sand. I need to try it out myself someday :)

Yeah I've had that problem more than once. Sometimes things are 3 days late :-/ Well hopefully the light will come in on Monday.

SSSSOOOO.. the light arrived Tuesday. while I was traveling. so I had to wait until last night at almost midnight to get a chance to look at it. so yes, a boy with new toys just HAD to play with them at midnight.

So, my prize for the beer label was the Sunbrite Slimline LED fixture. I was expecting the 12 LED version, but instead, I received teh 18 LED version. it came with 60° and 80° optics. im not sure which ones are in it, but with 18 CREE LED's I should have PLENTY of light for the setup. Now, it is a litle too big for the tank. mounted to the glass it overhangs the front of the tank by about 4". This is a good thing though. I will build a "L" shaped stand for the light that the tank will sit on. this will elevate the tank a bit off the surface and ill push the light back 5 inches. this shoud put the center of the light dead center on the tank. PLUS, the space now between teh light bracket and the tank lets me put the filter on the back so everything is in line and nothing mounted to the back. Aquaclear 20 filter has been ordered with the surface skimmer attachment from amazon and should be here tomorrow.

here it is on full power. because the light sticks out so far, it looks massive, but truly fits the 10x10 tank very well.

Wow, that light would have been fine for a 28/29 gallon cube ;) Looks good though! I would go with 60° optics to minimize light spillage.

yea Marshall, I think I may burn up some zoas on this thing. I may stick an Acro frag in there to see what it does. this weekend I plan to sync the light up to the big tank so they have similar photo periods. I may need to also borrow our club's Par meter

OK, SO I got the light done. made me a little stand for it. Ill get better pics of that a bit later, but now the light has 4.5"of space between the glass lip and its stand. it works perfectly and should afford me space for the final filter which arrives tomorrow. i did a 1/2 water change today so I could pick it up to put it up on the light stand.

the light stand is a 10" x 1" board. it extends 15" from the front lip of the tank. I like the coverage really well.

NOW, Matt THOUGHT he was sending me a 12x 3 watt light. Instead, as you can see in the photos, it has 18! yup. Slimline S model.WOO HOO!!!

I put some zoas and such in it.

First this is one of the Zoas I carried back on the plane. they are super pink, but not that happy, my urchin knocked them off the frag rack and the clowns partially burried them.

I messed up and didnt get a photo of the palys. they were that happy either becuase they got to ride the urchin all day.

    now the rest

some that the Urchin hid from me that I found.
