Looking for input on fish for a 2.5g pico. It is currently set up and running with a trio of sexy shrimp and a couple misc. frags, but I am itching for a swimmer :) Filtration is your standard HOB for carbon/floss and a 28oz water change every 3 days. CUC is a lone nassarius, two astrea and a pair of tiny blue-legged hermits.

Want to keep it to a lone specimen because of the obviously tiny size, preferably something that could stay the long haul. Being compatible with tiny shrimp is pretty mandatory as well

    So far my thoughts are:
    Stongobiops nematodes- hi-fin banded goby
    Trimma cana- candycane pygmy goby
Trimma rubromaculatus- red splash pygmy goby

I had kicked around a yasha but ruled it out due to cost, buggers are expensive. For a fallback there is always some sort of clown goby, but outside the box is good :)

Neat fish, was thinking about them but decided against it. Was looking for something that would hopefully be a bit more visible :)

Not disagreeing, the barnacle gobies are pretty nutty. The problem I have with the flaming prawn is the same one with the yasha...hard to bite the bullet on a $100+ fish that doesn't get much larger then an inch or two and costs more then I have invested in the entire setup

    Gobiodon Citrinus-Citron Goby
    Lythrypnus Dalli-Catalina Goby
    Valencienna Puellaris-Spotted Sleeper Goby
    Gobiosoma Oceanops-Neon Goby

    Possibly:

    Monacanthus Tuckeri-Slender Filefish

Would be pushing it but they get 3.5" max and are really unique.

Citron is one of the clowns I was trying to avoid but may wind up going with anyways :)
The catalina is off the list. They are a colder-water species and tend to do very poorly in our warmer reef tanks. I had looked at the diamond goby but don't they get to be like 4"ish?

The neons were another on the list but I was unsure if keeping one in such cramped quarters would be fair to it.

The flaming prawn goby is awesome. Where can one go about ordering one of these...
